Gender Inequality in Sports

Today, people across the world still protest about Gender Inequality. Gender Inequality means people are treated differently based on their gender. This affects woman the most. The unfair treatment happens in property ownership, access to education and even the right to marry freely. Now, I am going to talk about one of the most interesting of them: Gender Inequality in sports.

Firstly, in 1921, the football association officially banned woman from playing football. It went on for a pretty long time, as the result, football became unpopular among women. Even though woman were banned on certain sports, they insisted on playing other sports where they were not banned.

In 1900 Olympics, woman could only play in tennis, croquet, sailing, equestrianism and golf but not other games. Until 2012 Olympic, then woman can join all the games.

In the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, many woman role models start shining into the spotlight, especially Eileen Gu. She has shown phenomenal talents in skiing with confidence and determination. She becomes the role model for young generation and showed us that woman can also excel and achieve high standards in sports.

As a result, gender inequality must continue be fought for and every human must be treated equally.
